A New Confirmation Class starts February 3, 2013
Confirmation is designed for students in seventh grade and up. The theme of the 2013 Confirmation is CREDO, a word that means “I Believe,” and is taught by Pastor Daniel Hofmann and several adults from within the FUMER family.
The first class is scheduled for Sunday, February 3rd, 2013, and will run for 8 consecutive weeks, ending on Palm Sunday, March 24th, 2013.
Each Confirmation unit will run for 1½ hours (90 minutes), from 4:30pm to 6 pm.
Our first session (February 3rd) will serve as an orientation and introduction for students AND parents, helping us to get acquainted and help each other understand how FUMER, the students, and their parents can partner together in the CREDO Confirmation process.
We will get a deeper understanding of three vital aspects of growing into Christian Discipleship as Youths and Young Adults:
KNOW YOUR STORY
God ~ Creation; Sin & Redemption
Jesus Christ ~ A New Creation; Way of Salvation
The Holy Spirit ~ The Way of Discipleship; Living a Holy Life
CONFIRM YOUR FAITH
The Church ~ Worship & Sacraments; Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service, Witness
The World Around Us ~ A Look at the Social PrinciplesThe Faith We Claim ~ The Creeds of the Church
LIVE YOUR COMMITMENT
Belonging to a Church Family
Knowing God with Our Minds
Loving God with our Hearts
Serving God with our Hands
Confirmation is designed to foster a thirst for lifelong learning and to explore and define the role that Christianity plays in the life of each individual student.
The final event of the CREDO exploration is the Confirmation Service. In this ceremony, which will take place April 14th 2013, the students create and lead a service that offers insights and teachings to the congregation and includes a personal statement of faith from each student of his or her commitment to the Christian faith.
A personal letter to prospective students and their parents will be sent out in the next few weeks. If you would like more information, please contact Pastor Daniel Hofmann at 517.663.3524, or via eMail.
