Every gathering should have a clear, specific, and even "disputable" purpose. This purpose guides decisions about the guest list, venue, and activities. A strong purpose avoids generic goals, focusing on what should be different because of the gathering. We see Jesus doing this from the beginning when he called his first disciples to join him. We can do the same by planning gatherings with a distinct purpose.
