Mission Support Our "Mission Projects of the Month" are opportunities for our church family to give an extra offering to support missions, both in our community, around the state of Michigan and throughout the world. People can, of course, donate to these worthy ministries at any time during the year, but they receive special emphasis during the month in which they are listed.

January '10	Open Door Ministries, Central UMC, Lansing (Lane 6) $205.00 Open Door Ministries is a Drop-in Center and Hospitality Lounge, offering use of phone, laundry, bathrooms, snacks a listening ear, referral services for the homeless of downtown Lansing. They also serve a fellowship lunch every Thursday.
February	Maple Valley Community of Hope (Lane 6) $224.00
March	Habitat for Humanity, Eaton County (Lane 6) $322.00 Habitat is a way to help some of God’s people in Eaton County have a simple, decent place to live.
April	Faith UMC, Lansing (Lane 5) $242.00 A vibrant multi-ethnic church with many outreach ministries to a needy neighborhood.
May	Heart & Hands, Eaton Rapids $2841.00 As the economy in Michigan continues to suffer, the client load for Heart & Hands also grows. Services provided by Heart & Hands include food, personal needs, toilet paper, diapers, help in paying heat/lights/rent/or prescriptions, transportation, as well as serving homeless families.
June	Grace Children’s Hospital, Haiti (Lane 4) $162.00 Help is given to children suffering from acute tuberculosis and other illnesses.
July	Word of Life Church, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan $172.00
August	Africa University (Lane 2) 150.00 In a continent of great need and instability, where prices and costs of basic commodities continue to rise, Africa University offers a powerful and hopeful future.
September	Red Bird Mission Scholarship, Kentucky (Lane 3) $173.00 Did you know that Red Bird Mission School includes education for college prep students, as well as those in vocational and remedial/special education? Your gift to the “Scholarship/Tuition program can help one of these worthy students. This United Methodist mission school does GOOD work in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky.
October	Missionary Salary Support (Lane 1) $5742.51 We pledge to Dorothy Fredrickson serving in Haiti; John and Kendra Enright in Zambia; Mark and Rebecca Smallwood at Red Bird Mission in Kentucky. We also support Neal and Mari Hicks in Japan.
November	Grand Rapids Community House (Lane 6) $324.00 They serve children ages birth – 12, teens, families, and Senior Citizens in this very needy area of Grand Rapids.
December	Detroit Methodist Children’s Home (Lane 6) $194.30 Serving needy children in the Detroit area, with residential, foster, and adoptive care. Clark Retirement Community, Grand Rapids (Lane 6) $194.30 A retirement community for all four levels of care: independent living, assisted living, nursing care, and Alzheimer’s care. Once persons are admitted to CRC, they never are refused care, even if their finances run out.
