| Bible Discovery Zone A new way to do Sunday School!
On September 7th the church begins its 7th year with the Bible Discovery Zone, an innovative and exciting way to teach Sunday School to Pre-Kindergarten through grade 6 children. It is part of the Workshop Rotation Method and this is how it works:
BDZ focuses for 4-5 weeks on a single biblical story. In 2008 - 2009 we will teach
- Noah’s Ark,
- The Good Samaritan,
- The Boy’s Lunch,
- The Gift of Jesus,
- How the Bible Came to Be,
- Abraham & Sarah,
- Jouneyto the Cross, and
- Pentecost.
Each of the above rotations will feature a variety of different workshops: How Great Thou Art (art), From B.C. to P.C. (computers), Solid Rock Café (cooking), Bible Mania (games and science), Story Telling/Drama (Prophet’s Playhouse), and Holyword Theatre (videos). Each week the children visit a different workshop in rooms that have been painted and transformed into colorful and inviting places.
Wonderful and workable features include recruiting teachers for only the 4-5 week workshops and recruiting two sets of Shepherds for the 5 tribes the children are part of.
The kids meet in the Upper Room, #221 at 9:30 each Sunday morning. There will be an opening with singing, learning Bible verses, receiving an offering and perhaps even a short drama.
During 2007 - 2008 at least 46 different youth and adults were involved as staff and over 90 children attended over the months, with an average attendance on any Sunday of 55-60 children.
