| Heart and Hands
Heart and Hands is a non-profit agency organized to meet emergency needs of those living within the Eaton Rapids and Springport School Districts. It is a ministry supported by 15 areas churches (including FUMER), and the Eaton Rapids Ministerial Association. In addition to food emergencies, Heart and Hands can assist with medical, housing, and utility emergencies, as funds allow. In order to receive assistance, persons must live within the Eaton Rapids/Springport area, and be low income. In 2004, over 1,000 area families were provided services at the food bank.

Heart and Hands is governed by a Board, and the day-to-day operations are handled by the Coordinator, Janet Galloway. It is staffed entirely by volunteers who do various jobs such as distributing, picking-up and moving food items, as well as some record-keeping. FUMER has two regular volunteers who work at the food bank, as well as serving on the Board. You can call either Karen or Roz if you want more information about Heart and Hands. Volunteers are always needed, and will receive some training.
Heart and Hands is located at the First Baptist Church of Eaton Rapids (entrance is in the rear of the building), and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, from 9 AM until 12 Noon. Donations of cash, non-perishable food, paper products, personal care items, and household supplies are always needed, and can be dropped off during those hours.
